Week 5 Midweek Update

Over a decade ago, one of my favorite book publishers, Dover Books, started publishing CDs of copyright-free images, and admit I sort of went a little crazy and bought about a dozen different ones. This one is from a CD of Chinese Indigo Designs. They are so beautiful; I love that deep blue.
The difference between
a successful person and
others is not a lack
of strength, nor a lack
of knowledge, but rather
in a lack of will.

IMPULSE IN THE MARTIAL ARTS & COMEDY + HINTS ON THE DUs + WORTH A CLOSER LOOK

IMPULSE IN THE MARTIAL ARTS & COMEDY

You find impulse, force and time issues all throughout the martial arts. In this video, we look at taking a fall without injury which is a vital skill in the martial arts... and in physical comedy!

I wonder if you remember that clip from Singin' in the Rain I showed you much earlier in the year where Donald O'Connor ad libs a whole scene filled with comic falls and of course the run up the wall. In the video we talk another look at those falls.

And then there's the Hollywood faint. When people faint in the movies, they sort of crumple. People who faint in real life pitch over. I wonder which is safer?

HINTS ON THE DUs

I put together a quick video of hints on the DU problems, since I didn't give any in the regular lessons.

WORTH A CLOSER LOOK

Hey, I have an idea! Let's jump out of an airplane without a parachute. What - you don't like that idea? Doesn't it depend on what you land on? Once again, it's a force and time issue!

In 2016, Luke Aikins did it successfully.
